After 26 years again BK ‘Open Air’ in Waregem

On Saturday, about 250 gunners fire with air rifles. Shooting with air guns is an inclusive sport that young and old, but also disabled people can practice. On Sunday, the shooters shoot with air pistols, over 4 series with 72 participants each.

Sunday morning the men and women over 50 years and over 60 years shoot. Around noon it is the turn of the youth shooters from 12 to 18 years, the disabled and the shooters who shoot on the fly. The group that shoots on hold consists of older shooters (55 -90) who are allowed to shoot with their weapon on a support. The series for seniors and ladies (up to 50 years old) starts in the afternoon, after which the finals start. In those finals, the 8 best ladies and 8 best men from each series will compete in an exciting elimination race.

In this sport, the shooting at electronic targets is done so that the results can be processed immediately and are visible to the public on large screens. The shooter also immediately sees the result of his shot on a screen. This system is the same as at the World Championships and Olympic Games.

Further in the hall are foreign weapons manufacturers who check and maintain the weapons of the participants. There are also dealers of weapon accessories, shooting glasses, electronic targets and so on in that place to display and sell the items.
