After 17 years of Telstar, director Pieter de Waard starts working at a beach pavilion

After 17 years, it’s over for Telstar director Pieter de Waard. Today was his official farewell and tomorrow will be his very last day at the office. “Then go on vacation for a month. Then I will work as a waiter at a beach pavilion for three weeks,” says De Waard.

De Waard is at home in all markets. Earlier he indicated that he would like to do several things. From forklift truck driver to association chairman and from stock filler to a job in the media. A job in the hospitality industry is now possible.

Fantastic human being

During his farewell reception, the Telstar director was spoken of lyrically. The day started with a speech by Mayor Frank Dales. Then Telstarfan Peter ‘Jomanda’ Zoontjes took the floor. “We will never get such a director again”, he said during his speech.

Most people are familiar with the special statements made by Zoontjes, but AZ director Robert Eenhoorn and KNVB director Gijs de Jong sometimes did not know where to look after another Jomanda statement.

Then comedian Peter Heerschop took the floor and got the laughs on his hand. Tonight there is an official dinner on the program for invited guests and tomorrow he will definitely close the door at Telstar.

NH Sport spoke today with Telstar fans Peter ‘Jomanda’ Zoontjes and Dicky Sintenie, ‘basket man’ Jeroen Schoonakker and shareholder Chris van der Zwan. That resulted in the report above.
