Due to an accident and the associated investigation by the police, the Afsluitdijk towards Leeuwarden is closed to traffic. People who have to go to Friesland can prepare for a long drive: they have to take a detour via Flevoland.
It is still unclear exactly how long the police investigation will take. In the meantime, traffic from Zaandam will be diverted by Rijkswaterstaat. This goes via the A1 and A6, through Flevoland.
It is not clear what exactly happened on the Afsluitdijk. It is also unclear whether there were any injuries in the accident.
