Alhadur makes the game of his life
Comoros player Chaker Alhadhur became the real hero of the game: As a temporary goalkeeper, he did a brilliant job and kept Comoros in the game with impressive, albeit unconventional, saves. Nobody will blame the courageous substitute keeper, who usually plays as a left-back in the second French division at AC Ajaccio, for the 0: 2, when he could have possibly prevented the goal by a courageous run out.
Gambia surprised
By early evening, Gambia had made it into the last eight: The underdogs narrowly beat Guinea. Musa Barrow scored the golden goal for Gambia in the 71st minute, and the team now meets the winners of Cameroon against Comoros.
Towards the end twice yellow-red
Gambia lost to Yusupha Nije three minutes from time to a yellow-red card but saved themselves over time. In the hectic overtime, Guinea’s Ibrahima Conte had to leave the field with a yellow card. That didn’t change the outcome of the game.
