MOTORSPORT – Where Jonathan Rea is unapproachable in the World Superbike Championship in Assen, the Swiss Dominique Aegerter proved to be in a class of its own in the World Supersport Championship. Just like yesterday, the driver from the Ten Kate Racing Team won race 2 today.
Lorenzo Baldassarri finished second this afternoon ahead of Nicolo Bulega. Glenn van Straalen, who finished second in race 1, already crashed in the first corner.
Dominique Aegerter had won the prematurely aborted first World Supersport race on his Yamaha on Saturday afternoon, but the biggest surprise was Glenn van Straalen, who was in the lead for a long time and came in second. Due to a technical problem, the Dutchman, who was allowed to start from the second row, fell hard this morning in the warm-up. It gave him a painful hip, but the driver from Hoogkarspel was just at the start.
The start for Van Straalen was not great and to make matters worse, he already crashed in the first lap. It meant the end of the game for him.
Can Oncu, Nicolo Bulega, Lorenzo Baldassari and Dominique Aegerter then put up a great fight for the victory in Assen, which was ultimately won by Aegerter.
