The Council of Ministers has approved the establishment of the Analytics Advisory Committee. This committee will advise the Ministry of Finance, the Tax and Customs Administration, Customs and the Benefits Agency on how to deal with risk models and algorithms. It is the task of the advisory committee to consider current analytics issues within the services, solicited and unsolicited.

The advisory committee is chaired by Emile Aarts, emeritus rector magnificus and professor of computer science at Tilburg University. The other members of the committee are Sandjai Bhulai, Eppo Bruins, Paul van Geest, Jeroen van den Hoven, Friederike van der Jagt, Rob van Kan, Esther Keymolen, Patricia Prüfer, Mirko Schäfer and Arlette van Wissen. This group of academics and experience experts all work on issues such as privacy, the use of data & algorithms and the digital society.

The responsible use of risk models and algorithms is an important social and topical theme. The use of risk models and algorithms is intended to increase efficiency and effectiveness in work and thus also help citizens, companies and their own organization. At the same time, this principle must never lead to well-intentioned citizens and companies being hindered by the use of this digital working method. To guarantee this, the advisory committee has the freedom to provide solicited and unsolicited advice on current issues.

The advisory committee has a diverse composition, which guarantees integrated advice. Based on the dialogue in the committee, recommendations will shed light on the different sides of the issue presented. This concerns, for example, the importance and purpose of the model in question, privacy and ethics.
