Adviser on Werder Bremen’s filling jug: No hasty decision

Among the best scorers in the top leagues

After Werder Bremen recently reacted calmly to transfer rumors about national striker Niclas Füllkrug, his advisor followed suit and announced that a change of his client was not yet a consideration. “As far as the future is concerned, we are very relaxed,” said Gunther Neuhaus from the agency “think forward” to the TV station “sky“. “He feels very comfortable in Bremen, we will certainly not make any hasty decisions.”

As a newcomer at the World Cup in Qatar, Füllkrug scored twice for the German national team and scored another goal – and that with only 66 minutes playing time as a joker. The attacker, who only extended his contract on the Weser in July until 2025, was recently associated with record champions FC Bayern. On the largest possible stage, Füllkrug drew international attention for the first time.

“Niclas is deeply disappointed with the early World Cup exit, but it was nice to see how he was perceived by fans and football experts as a beacon of sympathy and hope and how he is continuing,” said consultant Neuhaus. Born in Hanover, Füllkrug is one of the top scorers in 2022/23 in the top European leagues with a total of twelve goals involved at club level. Last season, with 19 goals and eight assists, he played a major role in Werder Bremen’s direct resurgence. Füllkrug recently increased its market value from 4 million to 5 million euros.

Werder would deal with the filling jug disposal in the event of an “immoral offer”.

“We are happy for Niclas, he should now concentrate on the World Cup. Everything else is not an issue,” said Bremen’s sports director Frank Baumann to the multimedia portal “Deichstube” at the end of November. Professional boss Clemens Fritz said in the “Sport Bild”: “Basically, we are also planning with Niclas Füllkrug for the new season. There are no other thoughts at all. But a lot of things in football cannot be planned. If an immoral offer comes along, which Niclas would also like to accept, we will at least have to deal with it because of our economic possibilities.”

According to a report by “Sportbuzzer”, those responsible at FC Bayern asked their teammates from the World Cup squad about the scorer without obligation after Füllkrug’s equalizing goal in the 1-1 draw against Spain in the second World Cup group game. The offensive man could also be interesting for English clubs, it was said.
