Advance of Asian hornets: 300 nests discovered

There was a huge increase throughout Flanders due to the mild winter. Exterminators therefore had their hands full.

The removal of nests is necessary because the animals are a threat to our bees. Not all nests in our province have been exterminated. This is because there was no activity in part.

West Flanders is the front runner

In total, about 270 have been destroyed, last year there were 86. Across Flanders, 1,200 nests have been rendered harmless, in 2021 there were 265.

Our province is the leader because the hornets are advancing from France. At the beginning of this month there was a very large nest near the cafeteria of Sunparks in Oostduinkerke.
