Rumors have been circulating in The Hague for some time about a possible role of Janmaat around the position of technical manager within the club, whether or not in a supporting position. It now appears that Janmaat will fulfill that role himself. The position has not been officially staffed since 2019, after the departure of Jeffrey van As. Martin Jol was, however, active for some time in a similar role at ADO, as a technical advisor and Albert van der Dussen fulfilled the role on an interim basis.
,,ADO Den Haag is really my club and I have never regretted my return to the club a year and a half ago. Despite the fact that I still had a contract for one year, I started to doubt whether I wanted to continue as a football player,” explains Janmaat. ,,My ambition is to remain active in the football world, but in a different role. When I got the chance to fulfill this position at ADO Den Haag, I didn’t have to hesitate for long.”
Janmaat returned to ADO in January 2020 after twelve years, the club where he broke through as a youth player. After periods at SC Heerenveen, Feyenoord, Newcastle United and Watford, he played again at ADO last season. In the Kitchen Champion Division he made nine appearances, in the play-offs for promotion Janmaat played two games.
