MovieAfter ‘Ms. Marvel’, a new project by Adil El Arbi (34) and Billal Fallah (36) will soon be released, namely ‘Batgirl’. In both projects there may be a superhero central, but according to the directors, the film will be a lot darker than the Disney + series.
Both Kamala Khan and Barbara Gordon may be superheroes, but that’s where the similarities stop. In an interview with ‘/Film’, the two directors said, among other things, that ‘Batgirl’ is going to be a lot darker.
Tribute
“’Batgirl’ is set in Gotham City which automatically makes it darker than ‘Ms. marvel’. In addition, the main character is also older. She is no longer a teenager and already has a job. But we do intend to push through our trademark in the field of visualization in this project as well. We also want to pay tribute to the comic books, animated ‘Batman’ series and Tim Burton’s films.”
In previous interviews, El Arbi and Fallah already showed that they had little trouble understanding Kamala’s character. The directing duo had already experienced some similar things in their lives. In their interview with ‘/Film’, the two also made it clear that ‘Batgirl’ is different from ‘Ms. marvel’. According to El Arbi, both the setting of the film and the age of the character will have an impact on the tone of voice from ‘Batgirl’.
