Adidas and Intersport simplify delivery model

The sports retail association Intersport Deutschland eG and sporting goods manufacturer Adidas are opting for a new delivery model with a long-term “single account model”. This is implemented via the expanded logistics and fulfillment services at the Heilbronn location and simplifies the order and shipping services into just one order, delivery and invoice and bundles them at a central delivery address. In this way, the two partners want to reduce the complexity of the sales systems and processes and make it easier to implement uniform product ranges and campaigns.

“We are pleased about the intensification of our partnership with Intersport. This will enable us to work together even more efficiently and uniformly in the future. With its Germany-wide network of dealers and the new warehouse and wholesale offers, Intersport remains a very attractive wholesale partner for us, with whom we want to grow in the coming years. We are convinced that consumers in particular will benefit from this business model,” commented Marina Moguš, Adidas Managing Director for Central Europe, in a statement.

Benefits for traders

But there are also numerous advantages for Intersport retailers: They continue to have access to the Adidas ranges, with their category management and Adidas jointly determining the final single-account range. In addition, the contract secures NOS and seasonal models including sufficient quantities, whereby the single account range can only be obtained from Intersport.

“We are pleased with Adidas’ clear commitment to our retailer community. Our more than 1,000 retailers will thus continue to have access to the highly sought-after Adidas ranges. Last but not least, thanks to the major investments in the digitization of our entire value chain and the expansion of our logistics, we can use the additional capacities with our Warehouse der Zukunft map efficiently and increase utilization in a targeted manner,” explains Frank Geisler, COO of Intersport Deutschland eG.

“We have already gained experience with such central delivery models in our warehousing and brokerage business and can now start implementing them very quickly and efficiently with Adidas. As a result, we ensure a high service quality in sales and operations for our association members. And our customers can look forward to innovative and coveted Adidas products from their Intersport dealers,” adds Geisler.

The cooperation is to start as early as the upcoming June 2022 trade fair at Intersport Deutschland eG.
