AD Football podcast | ‘FC Utrecht-Ajax has been the low point for years’ | Dutch football

Antony is on his way to Manchester. Gakpo does not know where his future lies. Arnesen also has to look for a new job. Speaking choirs and fireworks bombs. nine-clappers. And more. It’s all covered in the new AD Voetbalpodcast. Etienne Verhoeff discusses it with Sjoerd Mossou and Mikos Gouka.

The bullet seems through the church. Antony is on his way to United for almost 100 million euros. ‘As a football company, you can’t refuse such an offer. Tie around it’, says Mossou. “It’s completely insane, but if you look at the amounts paid in the Premier League, it fits.”

‘They have enough good players at Ajax. It won’t be a disaster for the Eredivisie, maybe for the Champions League,” Gouka adds. “It would be an economic offense if they let it go. If Ajax plays the Champions League for two seasons and survives the group stage, they will have the same amount.’

Without Antony Ajax won at FC Utrecht. But in the stadium a lot went wrong with the supporters. Mossou: ‘We have seen excesses in many stadiums. But I think Utrecht-Ajax has been the low point for years. I once heard an entire stadium sing about Sneijder’s mother. There were not a thousand and even the main stand sang along. The atmosphere at FC Utrecht-Ajax is more extreme than at Feyenoord-Ajax.’

In Rotterdam they have to look for a new TD. “Arnesen still has a contract until the end of the year. But Feyenoord wants to see if they can get rid of that earlier. That has to do with his health problems’, explains Gouka. “But if they were very, very, very pleased with him, they wouldn’t part with him on these grounds, would they?” Mossu responds.
