In recent years, numerous women have made allegations against French actor Gérard Depardieu. The charges range from sexual assault to rape. One of the alleged victims is now dead. “In view of this new element,” the resurfaced allegations against Depardieu, the Paris prosecutor’s office has decided to open an investigation into the cause of his death.
On her Instagram account, Emmanuelle Debever’s sister shared in a story with: “To social networks and the cheap press: NO, my sister did not die on December 7th, but on December 6th, after being in the hospital for a week at the end of November. We are a long way from the program ‘Complément d’enquête’ broadcast on December 7th and its lying abbreviations. That’s called appropriation and it’s unbearable.”
Other women report sexual assaults
In the case of Depardieu, in April this year 13 women in an online magazine reported sexual assaults – which he vehemently denies. Actress Hélène Darras has even taken legal action, claiming she was sexually harassed by Depardieu during the filming of the 2007 film Disco. The allegations against the actor continue to mount as the debate over accountability and protection of victims intensifies.
