Actress Louise Fletcher (88) passed away

Louise Fletcher passed away on Friday at the age of 88. Report that international news agencies on the authority of her agent David Shaul. Fletcher died surrounded by family at her home in France. Against The Hollywood Reporter her son, Andrew Bick, says she died of natural causes.

The American broke through at the age of 41 with her role as Nurse Ratched in the film One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975). This role earned her an Oscar for best actress. The classic, starring Jack Nicholson, was a film adaptation of the 1962 novel of the same name by author Ken Kesey. Her character was the reason for the Netflix series Ratched. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest was the first film since 1934 to win Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Screenplay in addition to an Oscar for Best Actress.

Later Fletcher played in Mama Dracula, Dead Kids and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. For her guest roles in the TV series Joan of Arcadia and Picket Fences she was nominated for an Emmy Award. Her last role was as Rosie in the American TV series girlboss (2017).
