Van Wijnkoop had been struggling with her health since 2009, but she always recovered. A few months ago she was diagnosed with cancer. That became fatal for her last weekend. She died in an Amsterdam hospice at the age of 76.
In addition to the fact that Van Wijnkoop was responsible for casting new talents, she was also on the jury of X Factor† Frans Mulder visited her regularly in recent weeks. Mulder: “Just last Friday. She then said, ‘I believe now is my time!† She passed away peacefully.”
