Actor Tony Dow has died

Tony Dow, the actor known for the Leave it to Beaver series, has died.

Tony Dow is dead, the actor’s Facebook page says. Dow, 77, died Wednesday morning surrounded by his family.

– Although this is a very sad day, I have peace that he is in a better place. He was the best father anyone could ask for. He was my coach, my mentor, my voice of reason, my best friend, my best man and my hero, Dow’s son Christopher writes in a Facebook update, which was published late Wednesday evening Finnish time.

Dow had cancer, which was diagnosed in May. Before his death, he suffered several complications from cancer.

Back in May, Dow himself updated on Facebook that he was hopeful, because the immunotherapy seemed to be working well.

Dow’s death was already reported on Monday, but at that time the actor was still alive and in hospice care. Incorrect information about the death came to the media from the man’s management team, and Dow’s official Facebook page also reported on his passing. The original post was removed shortly after publication.

Dow’s managers said it was a misunderstanding.

– This morning Tony’s wife Lauren, who was very upset, told us that Tony had died and asked us to inform his fans. I’m sure you understand that this has been a difficult time for him. Later we received a call from Tony’s daughter-in-law that although Tony is not well, he is not dead yet, they write on Facebook.

Dow began his career as a child actor. At the age of 12, he got a role in the popular comedy series Leave it to Beaver (Beaver in Finnish), which was shown in the United States from 1957 to 1963. He also appeared in a new version of the series in the 1980s.

Dow’s last acting role was in a comedy film Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star in 2003.

Dow was married to his wife Lauren for 42 years. The actor will also be missed by his son Christopher, grandson Tyla and brother Dion with spouses.
