Actor Reiky de Valk, who died unexpectedly last weekend, was commemorated this afternoon in De Duif. The funeral was attended by about 650 people. Because De Duif church was too small to let everyone in, there were also screens on the Amstelveld so that everyone could follow the funeral.
De Valk was known for his roles in the series Hockey Vaders, of which the first season was released this year, and Dertigers, of which he appeared in the fourth and final season this summer. He also played in the video clip of De Diepte by singer S10.
Just before his death, De Valk passed by Paris Green finished, a short film that he directed himself and for which he had set up a crowdfunding campaign.
The church hall can accommodate just over 500 people, more than 100 visitors followed the service on a large screen placed outside.
During the farewell service, De Valk’s mother, brother and niece spoke. Friends and colleagues – including director Ties Schenk – also spoke. Music was also made during the service, for example by singer and songwriter Glen Faria. The ceremony was officiated by actress Nazmiye Oral.
