Activists cling to Picasso painting in Melbourne | Abroad

The activists are a 59-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman. During their protest, which took place in the early afternoon, they carried a sign with the text: “climate chaos = war and famine”. Police have also arrested a third person, a 49-year-old man.

Extinction Rebellion has claimed the action. “Two rebels have glued themselves to the glass of Picasso’s ‘Massacre in Korea’. This painting depicts the horrors of war,” the group wrote on social media. According to the Australian broadcaster, the police have confirmed that there was a protective layer over the painting.

Extinction Rebellion has been holding remarkable demonstrations around the world for years because, in the eyes of the activists, too little is being done to combat the climate crisis. This mainly concerns roadblocks, companies and authorities.
