Actium is going to make 2,000 rental homes more sustainable

This year, housing association Actium will renovate 309 homes that burn an excessive amount of gas. In total, it wants to make more than two thousand homes with an energy label E, F or G more sustainable in the coming years, so that by 2028 all homes will be as energy efficient as possible.

This is stated in the 2023 annual plan of the housing association. “We are going to renovate these homes in order to reduce the energy costs of the tenants and to increase living comfort,” says Rein Swart, director of Actium. This is possible because Actium is a financially sound organisation. “This provides a good basis for making extra efforts to make existing houses more sustainable and in new construction.”

Actium will insulate the homes in such a way and provide them with solar panels, so that heat pumps can be installed. “In this way we significantly reduce gas consumption or even make the home completely gas-free. Other advantages are a reduction in CO2 emissions, the living comfort is improved and maintenance that was planned in the foreseeable future is immediately included.”

In addition to sustainability, the housing corporation is also building. In Meppel, this concerns 75 apartments on Het Vledder, more than four hundred apartments and single-family homes in Assen, sixteen single-family homes in Norg and eight life-resistant homes in Pesse.
