The police warned on Thursday evening about dangerous situations on the A37 in Drenthe. The highway was blocked near Hoogeveen, causing road users to get out or even turn around. The police received several reports about wrong-way drivers, but the action has now ended and the road is clear again.

A “protest action” took place on the A37 near Hoogeveen on Thursday evening, the police reported. There were several cars parked on the road.

According to the police, the action caused dangerous situations on the road, because motorists turned around or got out. Everyone was urged not to go wrong driving. Photos show how several vehicles stood still with people next to them.

A police spokesman cannot say for sure whether it is farmers who are blocking the highway. The corps would also have received signals that other vehicles are involved in the blockade.

Farmers activists briefly blocked the A7 motorway near the Frisian Tijnje on Thursday evening. All lanes were closed in the direction of Drachten.

A roadside fire also started at the blockade on the A7. Road users had to adjust their speed and take into account limited visibility due to the smoke from the fire. According to the ANWB, there was a traffic jam of several kilometers. The nuisance appeared to have been resolved by 9:30 p.m.

Also in the center of Amersfoort there were again protests against the nitrogen policy of the cabinet. One farmer had taken a cow with him, to the anger of the local faction of the Party for the Animals. According to the party, the experience was “highly stressful” for the animal.
