Action against illegal stay: 6 people in…

The action took place yesterday. Various departments of the Ostend Police, together with the DVZ and the West Flanders Public Prosecutor’s Office, developed a new action against illegal residence and the associated nuisance, such as disrupting public order. The action took place on the entire territory of Ostend, including Torhoutsesteenweg and MacLeodplein, city center and station.

Fifteen people were subjected to a check and six of these people were made available to the Immigration Department. One person is eligible for a forced return to the country of origin (Morocco) and will be transferred to a closed institution. Another person has an ongoing asylum procedure in France and therefore had to stay in that country. He is transferred again to France. The other four people have received an order or reconfirmation to leave Belgium.
