The French actor Alain Delon, known worldwide for film classics such as “Only the Sun Was a Witness”, “The Cruel Angel” and “Love 1962”, does not want to live anymore. So he asks for euthanasia.
According to the Spanish newspaper “Marca”, his son Anthony Delon revealed this in an interview with “RTL Channel”. His now 86-year-old father expressed this wish and instructed him to take all necessary steps. Delon lives in Switzerland, where euthanasia is legal.
Farewell message from Alain Delon
According to the newspaper, the 86-year-old has already prepared a death message that says: “I would like to thank everyone who has accompanied me over the years and given me great support. I hope that future actors can find in me a role model not only at work, but in everyday life, between victories and defeats. Thanks. Your Alain Delon”,
Delon had repeatedly campaigned for euthanasia in the past, also because his wife Nathalie, who died of pancreatic cancer last year, had to do without it as she was French (euthanasia is legally prosecuted in France). For the actor, however, euthanasia is “the most logical and natural thing you can do.”
At a certain age and at a certain point in time, people have the right “to pass away peacefully from this world without the assistance of a hospital or life support equipment.”
Delon, who temporarily had a liaison with Romy Schneider and shot “The Swimming Pool” with her, has been suffering from the consequences of several strokes and a brain hemorrhage since 2019. However, his current state of health is not known.
