Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Thursday called for “absolute vigilance” ahead of another episode of heat in his country. Temperatures in Greece can reach 44 and 45 degrees Celsius at the weekend. All archaeological sites in Greece, including the Acropolis in Athens, will therefore remain closed until Sunday during the hottest hours of the day, the Ministry of Culture said.
