Ackermann for Gaultier and Balenciaga’s absence

Following the announcement of the Paris Fashion Week for men, the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (FHCM) has now also announced the provisional schedule for the upcoming Haute Couture week.

The event for the Spring/Summer 2023 season will take place from 23 to 26 January and will include 30 fashion shows and a presentation by designer Iris Van Herpen.

The Schiaparelli show opens Monday’s fashion week at 10am, closely followed by Christopher Josse just an hour later.

This season, three new designers will also be presenting their creations on the catwalk: Indian label Gaurav Gupta, Moroccan Sara Chraibi and British brand Robert Wun. The latter will usher in the end of couture week on Thursday.

Industry sizes and a big gap

Haute Couture Week will be complemented by a number of well-known names, including French fashion house Chanel – which hosts two catwalk shows, Viktor & Rolf, Giambattista Valli and Christian Dior.

A notable addition to the calendar isHaider Ackermann’s collection for Jean Paul Gaultier.Ackermann is the next guest designer for the fashion house, following Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing and Diesel’s Glenn Martens.

What is particularly striking, however, is the absence of a prominent name on the calendar, as Balenciaga is not represented this season. The reason for this could be the brand’s controversial campaigns, in which children held teddy bears with BDSM clothing in their hands.
