Accused tells about knife attack on Nick

By Robert Becker

22-year-old Nick Frischke from Döbern (Spree-Neisse district in Brandenburg) has been missing since February 15. Emergency services are still looking for him around Karbonkelberg National Park.

However, it is certain that Frischke was the victim of a violent crime. The South African police arrested three suspects over the weekend, as reported by “RTL”. All three were brought before the magistrate on Monday.

And: One of the accused testified that he and his cronies attacked the Germans in the national park on the outskirts of Cape Town. The man claims one of his accomplices stabbed the 22-year-old with a kitchen knife.

So far, according to “RTL”, the police have been able to secure Frischke’s hiking backpack, his cell phone, his credit card and the murder weapon. The knife is currently being examined for DNA traces. The three men are accused of aggravated robbery. The minimum sentence under South African law is 15 years.

Last Thursday there were the first serious signs that Frischke was the victim of a crime: when the young man’s credit card turned up.

Because: During a raid, the police arrested two suspected robbers (22 and 23) and secured loot in their house. In addition to cell phones, a Visa credit card was also found – and it was called Nick Frischke!

The officials made a neat note of the finds in a notebook, but initially did not connect them to the missing German. The mugged businessman then drew the local police’s attention to it.

The two robbers are now accused of complicity and are still in custody. The five accused are due to appear before the Cape Town court on Tuesday.

︎ Last seen was an Uber driver who, according to his own statement, dropped him off in the suburb of Hout Bay at the foot of the Karbonkelberg. A surveillance camera is said to have filmed him there.

Meanwhile, Nick’s family continues to search for the missing person. His mother published emotional lines on the Facebook platform: “Maybe people still have an important clue. Maybe he is not recognizable because of his injuries, please look very carefully everywhere. This search has to get around to the end.”
