According to trainer Pascal Jansen, AZ is waiting ‘very important’ cup match against FC Twente

The duel at Twente meant the last performance of Timo Letschert in the AZ shirt. The defender was substituted in the first half after making two mistakes. Afterwards, the Purmerender did not go home with the team bus. Of course, Jansen was certainly thinking back to that game in the last few days.

AZ can since the defeat at Feyenoord an 11-game unbeaten run on November 7 (1-0). The FC Twente series is almost as impressive. The team of trainer Ron Jans is nine duels without a loss. With 22 goals against, the Easterners have the least passed rearguard after Ajax and Feyenoord.

AZ won in the previous cup round easy from Heracles Almelo where trainer Frank Wormuth gave his entire basic team a rest except for a few. That game was played in Alkmaar; tomorrow AZ has to make a big bus trip. The winner also knows that the meeting in the quarterfinals will play out (again).

Bruno Martins Indi is not in the match selection at AZ. He is recovering well from a toe operation and may join next weekend when AZ plays against Cambuur. Jelle Duin (injured) and Zakaria Aboukhlal (Africa Cup) are also missing.
