The Bundesliga soccer team 1. FC Köln, which is in serious danger of relegation, and coach Steffen Baumgart are apparently going their separate ways.
“Sky” and the “Bild” newspaper reported this on Thursday (December 21, 2023), but there was initially no confirmation. According to reports, the separation should be a “joint decision” between the club bosses and the 51-year-old.
Baumgart’s successor at 1. FC Cologne unclear
How the succession should be regulated initially remained open. Baumgart’s contract with FC ran until June 2025; he took over Cologne in the summer of 2021 and reached the Conference League with them in his first season.
After 16 games, Cologne is in second-to-last place with just ten goals and ten points. On Wednesday, FC lost 0-2 (0-0) at Union Berlin at the end of the year.
