According to Gene Simmons, Kiss “will visit 100 more cities” before they stop

Actually, the last chapter of Kiss was already written: Starchild, Spaceman, Demon and Catman were supposed to say goodbye to their fans with a last show under fireworks and flames on July 17 last year. Then the corona pandemic brought down the original planning of the “End of the Road” tour. Now Kiss seem to have enjoyed their farewell concerts so much that their journey is far from over: “The crew is happy. All are happy. So we decided to visit 100 more cities before we stop. I don’t know how long this is going to take,” Gene Simmons told Chaoszine magazine.

There is no date for the last fireworks display yet

When exactly Kiss will leave the stages of the world is still in the stars: “We don’t know. We have never retired. This is our first time,” said the singer and bass player with a smile. “It’s like painting a painting or writing a book. If someone asks, ‘When will it be ready?’ You’re in the thick of it, you don’t know it.” In all likelihood, however, the tour will continue beyond January 30, 2023 — the day that marks the 50th anniversary of the first Kiss show.

Say goodbye before it’s too late

However, the musicians don’t take their anniversary too seriously: “We didn’t think about 50 years or anything like that,” he said. “We were just like, ‘OK, I’ll be 70 years old’ before the pandemic started; maybe it’s time to stop lest we live too long. I don’t care who you are – at some point you have to get off stage and it’s better for the fans and for you and for the legacy to get off stage while you’re still great. Don’t wait until you’re too old. Don’t do that,” Simmons said.

“We’re having the time of our lives.”

When asked if there was a possibility that Kiss could do more concerts beyond the additional 100 dates, he said “probably not” – only to add: “I said ‘probably not’ before”. He continued, “A lot has to do with how we feel and how strong we are. But this tour won’t stop until it stops. So we’re not going to take a year off and then move on. We’re in touring mode and we’re gonna stay out there until we quit. Do I know where the last show will be or when? I dont know. But I tell you: We are having the best time of our lives.”
