PSV had to wait five years for it. But the Eindhoven club will finally return to the Champions League on Wednesday evening. The question remains whether that will happen to Noa Lang. What is certain: coach Peter Bosz wants his team to play daringly.
“Five years is too long,” Bosz was clear on the eve of PSV’s return to the Champions League. “Everyone is happy at the club. I have only been there for a short time, but you can tell that everyone’s heart is beating faster that we can compete at the highest level again. This is also the stage where PSV belongs.”
“We have the will to win.”
The Eindhoven club will play against Arsenal in London on Wednesday evening. The English are the clear favorite, but the coach does not want to adapt. “We’re not going to play differently. Of course some details will be different, but we always adapt a little. They want to create one more man in midfield, that is where the battle will be won.”
“We will have to show courage,” Bosz continues his story. “It’s a good opponent and we play in a fantastic stadium. But we always have the will to win, and that will also be visible on the field tomorrow.”
“Everyone should enjoy it because it is 90 beautiful minutes.”
Noa Lang dropped out on Saturday with an injury, but he did travel to London with the Eindhoven team. It is unclear whether he will also play. “I do not know yet. We’re going to train soon (Tuesday evening, ed.). Hopefully that goes well. Then I will make a decision about whether he will play.”
Lang is one of the players who has already played in the Champions League, but the PSV selection also includes several players who will make their debut in the million-dollar ball. Do they receive extra attention in the preparation? Bosz: “That is not necessary. We have a nice mix of experience. The time after the match against NEC was short so you can’t dwell on it. Everyone should enjoy it because it is 90 beautiful minutes.”
