According to Boeing, problems with Dreamliner planes are almost over | NOW

Boeing is almost ready to resume deliveries of the Dreamliner 787, the American aircraft manufacturer said on Wednesday. The company achieved significantly less profit in the second quarter than a year earlier because of the production problems with the Dreamliner.

Two years ago, problems arose several times around Boeing’s Dreamliners, the aircraft manufacturer’s most advanced widebody aircraft. Deliveries had to be stopped at the end of 2020 due to electrical problems with the devices. When those deliveries just started up again, they had to be stopped again in May due to technical problems.

Since July last year, Boeing no longer supplies Dreamliners to airlines, because a problem with the nose of the aircraft was identified. Furthermore, last month there appeared to be problems with the titanium parts in a number of Dreamliners.

Because the Dreamliners have not been delivered for a long time, Boeing has had to set aside billions. According to the aircraft manufacturer, this is the main reason that profits fell by 72 percent compared to last year.

The tide now seems to be turning for Boeing. The company says it is well advanced in negotiations with the US aviation authorities about resuming those deliveries.
