Accident with Kuurne crane: victim (90) and crane operator both responsible
The 90-year-old woman suddenly crossed Kerkstraat in Kuurne with her walker on Monday afternoon. The driver of an excavator who was working further down the road did not see her and hit the woman. She was hospitalized in life-threatening condition.
The condition of the woman is now stable but still worrying.
Shared responsibility
An expert from the public prosecutor’s office investigated the accident, and concludes that both parties bear responsibility: “The woman crossed with her walker, the crane operator’s view was limited because he had lowered his loading platform to pass under the banners in the street .”
