The incident happened around 4.45 pm at the airport in Arnhem. “The pilot is approachable and is being looked after by the emergency services,” the police said on Twitter.
What exactly happened is still unclear. According to a reporter from broadcaster Gelderland, it probably went wrong during take-off. “The investigation is aimed at finding out what went wrong when the glider was wound up and the cause of the accident,” the police said.
Several emergency services quickly arrived on the scene after the incident. An air ambulance and a police helicopter were also called in.
