Accident causes long traffic jam on A9 between Amstelveen and Alkmaar

Due to an accident at the Velsen junction, it is stuck on the A9 between Amstelveen towards Alkmaar. The traffic jam is about 13 kilometers long. It is also time to connect on the A1 towards Amersfoort, where there is a traffic jam of almost an hour.

For a normal Wednesday evening there are above average traffic jams. According to the ANWB, many accidents happen for unexplained reasons. “It could be that people want to continue driving properly at the moment and that is why more accidents are happening. Recently we often had warning signs on, but they are not on now. People often drive more carefully when they are warned,” said the spokesperson. .

It is not yet known how the accidents on the A9 and A1 were caused. However, yesterday, due to Christmas Eve, it was still busier than tonight at this time.

The A9 is now free again and the traffic jam is slowly clearing up.
