Access control at Maarheeze station after constant nuisance to asylum seekers

All train passengers at Maarheeze station will be checked by security guards from Monday. The Dutch Railways (NS) has taken this measure because residents of the asylum seekers’ center in neighboring Budel have been causing nuisance for some time.

“Some residents of the azc try to travel via Maarheeze station without a valid ticket,” explains Leonie Bosselaar of the NS. “When confronted about this, they often show intimidating or aggressive behavior.”

Intensive cooperation
Despite intensive cooperation between the municipality, the police and NS and measures such as the deployment of security guards with a dog, the deployment of extra security personnel and targeted camera surveillance, the number of incidents has not decreased recently.

With the new entry checks, the NS wants to prevent these troublemakers from getting on the train and hopes that passengers and NS employees will have a pleasant journey from Maarheeze in the future.
