AC Milan get nothing
Sven Botman is set to become the king’s signing from Newcastle United this summer. Like various media including “Sky Sports” and the “telegraph‘, unanimously report, LOSC Lille have accepted the ‘Magpies’ offer for the 22-year-old centre-back. According to this, bonuses of up to 40 million euros flow to the top French club – 38 million of which should be the base fee. Botman is due for a medical in north east England next week.

After Lille blocked all advances for Botman, including from Newcastle, in the winter, the offer from the Premier League team with the Saudi Arabian owners now seems to have satisfied the French. In the ranks of NUFC record arrivals, Botman is in third place behind ex-Hoffenheimer Joelinton (25) and his Brazilian compatriot Bruno Guimarães (24). So far, Lille has only sold Nicolas Pépé (27; Arsenal) and Victor Osimhen (23; Napoli) more expensive.

AC Milan also wanted Lille’s botman – Ajax benefited from sale
The Netherlands Under-21 international has also been heavily courted by AC Milan. For large investments, however, the Rossoneri have had to wait in recent weeks for the change of ownership from the “Elliott” investment fund to “RedBird” Capital. Although this has already been done on paper, Botman is said to have taken too long, which is why he has now accepted the offer from the Premier League.
According to reports, Botman’s youth club Ajax Amsterdam will also benefit significantly from the transfer, which should participate with ten percent of Lille’s net profit. LOSC signed the left footer from Ajax II in 2020 for €8m. In Lille, Botman quickly became a top performer, appeared in 79 competitive games and surprisingly became champion in 2021. During this time, he increased his market value to 30 million euros. The defender will be Newcastle’s third permanent signing after left-back Matt Targett (26) and goalkeeper Nick Pope (30).
