Among top-scoring coaches
It took less than three years for Stefano Pioli to bag the championship title with AC Milan. The coach should now stay with the Rossoneri for another three years. The contract of the former Inter coach, who came from Fiorentina in October 2019 and won the Scudetto in 2022, will be extended until 2025, according to the club.
If the success persists, Pioli will soon trump his colleague Massimiliano Allegri after his term of office. To date, Pioli has 1,118 days in office with 153 competitive games, Allegri played 178 games between 2010 and 2014. In order to overtake the runtime leader in Milan history, Carlo Ancelotti, Pioli would need another extension. At the end of his new contract, the former Juventus professional would be in office for 2,091 days, Ancelotti has more than 2,700 days between 2001 and 2009 and collected an average of 1.94 points in 420 games (knockout games converted). In the Transfermarkt database, Pioli is even among the coaches with the most points in Milan history with an average of 1.97.
