Absorbable traction threads: the alternative to facelifts

THEin aesthetic medicine the traction wires have existed for several years, but perhaps few had heard of them until, the first of this year, Demi Moore walked the runway of Fendi Couture with her face drawn up to her cheeks and puffy at the cheekbones, which looked a little unnatural. What had happened? And pulling threads immediately became a trend topic of the year.

Traction threads, the alternative to facelift?

The pulling threads they are used in an aesthetic medicine procedure called non-surgical mini-facelift. Unlike the traditional facelift, they do not require anesthesia, they do not require incisions or stitches.

Returning to Demi Moore: «The too lifted effect could be due to the execution of the double protocolcombining pulling threads and filler fillers, going overboard with hyaluronic acid injected into the cheekbone area», explains the doctor Carmen DeLuca, International Masters in Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery.

Happier, however, was the experience of Eva Mendes who, in 2020, shared on her Instagram page that she was very happy with her treatment with i traction wires applied by surgeon Mariana Vergara in Beverly Hills. We ask the expert for more information.

Traction threads, how they work

“They’re called PDOs, they’re made of polydioxanone and are studded with small cones that allow them to be anchored to the tissues once inserted under the skin», says Carmen De Luca. “I am able to develop a slow mechanism that stimulates collagen and restores firmness and tone”.

The session is always very accurate. «After having drawn the lines where to insert the wires with a special felt-tip pen, these are pushed under the skin and positioned with a micro-cannula. The doctor, with extreme precision, establishes from time to time where to anchor them in the fabric using special hooks» adds Carmen De Luca.

When and where they are indicated

«This procedure is recommended when they are the first sagging on the cheeks and at the level of the mandibular profile is evident. It also gives good results in the case of wrinkled skin on the inside of the arms, in the area around the navel and on the knee».

The expert suggests caution in using the traction threads to obtain the so-called foxy eyes, with the browbone very relieved. «The area affected by this procedure is between the eyebrow and the hairline, where the skin is so thin as to be visible. Also, due to facial expressions they can disengage very easily.

The results and the duration

The results are not definitiveand the wires are metabolized naturally by the body after about 6-8 months. “It should be remembered that it is not a suitable method for everyone because it does not solve the problem of significant sagging”, warns the expert.

Threads of collagen: a recommended treatment

There is a treatment proposed in the most innovative beauty salons that uses specials collagen threads to make wrinkles less noticeable and improve the quality of the skin. The new non-invasive protocol does not use needles or incisions, it is painless, it’s called DS V-Line and comes from Istanbul.

«We use high-tech threads made with hydrolysed collagen of bovine origin. This filament is made to be “absorbed” by the skin after adequate preparation”. explains the beauty specialist Valentina Coscione, Master Trainer of the method and distributor of the brand in Italy.

«It immediately relaxes the skin, making it smooth, toned and instantly plumped. The results, in terms of skin rejuvenation, become even more evident in the following hours».

How the session takes place

The steps that allow the skin to absorb the collagen threads painlessly and non-invasively are different and quite elaborate. «It always starts with cleansing the face and with a mechanical scrub based on avocado and detoxifying and illuminating glutathioneessential to remove the thickenings that block the skin pores», says Coscione.

“After the passage of a high-frequency handpiece which does not generate heat and increases blood flow, it applies a carrier serum based on plant stem cells which temporarily lowers the skin pH», explains the expert.

At this point the skin is ready to start the next phase. «It’s time for cellular hyperstimulation: the collagen threads are first placed on the affected areas and then absorbed with a massage».

This procedure is performed on the face, neck and décolleté, it has no contraindications and can be performed from the age of 25 because the process of degradation of collagen in the body already begins at the age of 20. «Cycles of 3 sessions are recommended to be repeated every 3/6 months depending on the reaction of your skin», concludes Valentina Coscione.
