The state does not regulate food prices and is not going to do it, stated Deputy Prime Minister Viktoria Abramchenko on the air of the Rossiya 24 TV channel in response to a request to give examples of the mechanisms by which the state regulates the cost of food.
“We are not engaged in price regulation at all and will not be engaged in it. We must provide for such conditions so that market mechanisms themselves ensure such a balanced regulation of prices in the food market,” Abramchenko said.

According to her, the authorities “analyze the well-being” of food producers, and if production costs rise, they quickly take the necessary measures. For example, the government provides additional funding through concessional loans.
“Second direction. We agree that there should be fewer intermediaries between the producer and retail chains, when, for example, vegetable producers – Russian farmers – can directly deliver their goods to retail chains or fairs, ”said the Deputy Prime Minister.
