“A new season opens in the development of the Government’s investment model for Italian sport, envisaged in the reform approved in the 2019 Finance Law. By the spring, for the next four years and after discussion with CONI, they will be elaborated and presented by of Sport and Health, based on the guidelines of the Minister for Sport and Youth, the criteria for the recognition of public contributions for the benefit of National Sports Federations, Associated Sports Disciplines, Sports Promotion Bodies, Associations Meritorious and Civil and Military Sports Groups, to better guide the definition of the strategic choices of individual beneficiaries, with the possibility of being able to plan and adopt them over time”: this is how Andrea Abodi, Minister for Sport and Youth, explained the new model of disbursement of public contributions. Abodi then specified that there will be “new practice, thanks to the collaboration with the MEF, also regarding the timing of determination – by the month of May – and the related allocation of incremental economic resources compared to the guaranteed minimum of 410 million euros per year, referring to 32% of the taxation produced by the sports system in the previous year”.

This is a possible evolution “thanks to the experience gained in recent years”, with an “increasingly objective, transparent, efficient model and aimed, as a whole, at achieving the following system objectives: an ever wider diffusion of sports practice through processes of introduction to sport that start from school, support for the most fragile social and territorial components so that they can benefit from growing sporting opportunities, support for the components that orient their respective activities towards competitiveness while also strengthening their competitiveness”, he concludes Abodi.
