Abel and Sven are on their way to Bodø for more than 30 hours. The PSV supporters often travel after their club abroad and wanted to do so without getting on a plane. The two friends from Den Bosch and Schijndel came up with the idea of traveling by train to the north of Norway. A long journey and that without a ticket for the match.
“No, we never hesitated to go”, Abel and Sven say on Thursday morning after a broken night on the night train. Due to a penalty from UEFA, no PSV supporters are allowed to be present in the stadium. But it didn’t stop the two friends from canceling the trip.
“We said that same day that we’re just going,” says Abel. Sven adds: “The train tickets could no longer be canceled anyway. We hoped that the appeal would be positive, but unfortunately that did not happen.”
“There was also a bit of laughter about it in our environment.”
And so they travel to Bodø without a match ticket. Although they have not yet given up hope for a ticket. “We try everything. On Wednesday there were 1400 people in the queue for extra tickets in the home section. So that became difficult. Now we look at all kinds of websites to see what is still possible. We want to achieve our ultimate goal.”
The two friends left Den Bosch on Wednesday at one o’clock in the afternoon. They will arrive in Bodø on Thursday evening around six o’clock. A city high in the north of Norway: from Oslo it is still 22 hours by train.
“We wanted to create an original journey and show that it is not necessary to do everything by plane”
But why do you want to travel so long, when it can also be done much faster and easier? “We wanted to create an original journey and show that it is not necessary to do everything by plane. And now we see a lot more of Norway. In a usual European away game, we only see that city.”
But in the night train the view was disappointing for the time being. “It was pitch dark. But it’s getting a little brighter now. So we are hopeful for the continuation of our train journey”, says Sven.
Friday afternoon Abel and Sven leave for the Netherlands. They hope to be home by Saturday evening. With a match visit behind them, although they still have to be lucky. “We are still hopeful. We will not give up until the last minute.”
