Galatasaray Club Council Board decided that names such as Abdurrahim Albayrak, Yusuf Günay and Kaan Kançal, who were on the board of directors of the late President Mustafa Cengiz, who were not released from the administrative side in the ordinary financial general assembly of 2019 held in 2021 due to the new type of coronavirus epidemic, could not be elected.
The council board of the yellow-red club decided that the names who served as full members on the board of directors during the said period would not be on the list of candidates in the election on April 30, and that the reserve members could enter the election.
Kaan Kançal, who was the vice president of the club at that time, said in a statement to the AA correspondent that they respect the decision taken by the council board, and said:
“We were not released administratively at the financial general assembly of 2018. At that time, we had to get a debt-free paper in a very short time. If we had not taken precautionary measures and had not continued our duty, it would have been a problem for the club. We were going to the championship that year too. It was the easiest for us to leave. We decided to continue in line with their interests. We provided the debt-free paper and our team became champion that year. But the administrative release in 2019 was already the end of our term of office. We did not find it appropriate to go through these processes at the courthouses again. 2 CANDIDATES SO FAR
For the election on April 30, Galatasaray Club, one of the former managers Metin Öztürk and the former chairman of the council, Eşref Hamamcıoğlu, announced their candidacy.
Former presidents of the club, Ünal Aysal and Dursun Özbek, announced that they will not be candidates for the presidency during this period.
In the yellow-red club, the presidential candidates must submit their lists to the presidency of the council until Friday, April 8, at 18.00.
