On September 21, 2023, the “Music Photography Award” (MPA) will be presented by Abbey Road Studios – among the jury members is Sacha Lecca, photo editor at the US colleagues from ROLLING STONE. The panel also includes the photographer Rankin and the British singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
The award show, which is taking place for the second time in what is probably the most famous recording room in the world, is dedicated to the art of music photography and serves as a showcase for young talent. A panorama of the most impressive stage moments is to be offered, but also the quiet scenes that might otherwise have been lost. Winners will be honored at Abbey Road Studios, where the Beatles worked.
There are six categories for which images can be submitted: Undiscovered Photographer of the Year, Music Moment of the Year, Live Music, In The Studio, Underground Scenes, and Hip Hop 50. Here you can submit photos and thus apply for the nominations.
Our colleague Sacha Lecca is part of the jury in the shortlist. He is Deputy Photo Editor at the American ROLLING STONE, head of the photo department. Lecca has been working there since 2007, before that he worked at CMP Media, the Guggenheim Museum and Newsweek, among others. His photos have been published in ROLLING STONE, Huck Magazine, American Photography, Creem Magazine, The Photographic Journal, Time Magazine and more.
