Abba guitarist Lasse Wellander has died

A musician also known as Abba’s guitarist Lasse Wellander has died at the age of 70. Wellander’s family tells about it on Facebook.

According to the family, Wellander had cancer, and he passed away exhausted by the disease on Good Friday, surrounded by his loved ones.

– It is with indescribable sadness that we have to announce that our beloved Lasse has fallen asleep, Wellander’s family writes.

– You were a great musician and as humble as can be, but above all you were a wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather.

– We love and miss you a lot.

Wellander is best known as Abba’s guitarist. He played with the band from the golden age of the 1970s to the return in 2021. Cooperation between Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson with also expanded to musicals.

Wellander also released several solo albums, but his biggest hits came with Abba and other Swedish artists as a studio musician or producer.
