On Wednesday (March 16th) ABBA advertised their new official “Chiquitita” quiz on Facebook, this Thursday they are already announcing another new release: On Friday (March 18th) at 3 p.m. an official lyric video for the songs appear.
For the release, the band uses the YouTube tool “Premiere”, so that fans can chat with others before the first broadcast, but especially during it.
Three excerpts from the video can already be seen in the Facebook post. They show the band members sideways in front of a blue background. Parts of the lyrics can be seen in the middle. Notably, Agnetha Fältskog, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad can all be seen in the same outfits they wore in the 1979 “Chiquitita” music video.
The reactions to the announcement vary: while some fans are happy to see and hear ABBA material again, others find the idea of a new lyric video questionable. “Do we need a lyric video when the song’s already out?” asks a fan on YouTube. Another comment suggests confusion: “Did I miss something? What’s special about a lyric video?”
However, the majority of the comments still show a positive picture: “I can hardly wait,” write several fans directly. Quite a few also take the announcement as an opportunity to share their memories associated with the title.
The band has recently been extremely active on social media. Among other things, she announced that there would be “exciting news” in the near future. The Swedes also commented on the war in Ukraine and posted an excerpt from their recently released hit “Ode to Freedom” as a sign of their solidarity with the Ukrainians.
