Tauentzienstraße and parts of Kurfürstendamm and Joachimsthaler Straße were closed on Wednesday evening in Berlin in City West because of an abandoned suitcase.

Numerous buses were also affected, as the BVG announced. According to the traffic information center, Kurfürstendamm was closed in the direction of Wilmersdorf between Nürnberger Strasse and Fasanenstrasse. Joachimsthaler Strasse was closed in both directions between Kantstrasse and Kurfürstendamm.

Bus lines X10, M19, M29, M64, M49, 109, 110, 204 and 249 were affected by the closures in Charlottenburg. The BVG announced that there were delays.

According to a police spokesman, an abandoned suitcase was discovered around 4:35 p.m. on Joachimsthaler Strasse. Police forensic scientists also examined the suitcase using a special robot. Finally, the suitcase was blown up in a controlled manner. Police said the contents were harmless.
