The two dogs that were left behind by a stranger on Saturday near the animal shelter in Helmond are doing well. They are healthy. The animal shelter has received many reactions to the discovery of the dogs, but there are no concrete tips about the perpetrator yet.
There is contact with people who want to adopt the two dogs. “It is very concrete. It will probably be completed in a week,” says Twan Spierings of the shelter.
On Saturday morning around a quarter past seven, employees of the shelter in Helmond found two dogs tied to the shelter’s mailbox. The Caucasian Shepherds were cold and had nowhere to go.
The dogs are tied up right outside the shelter’s camera footage. The shelter has reported the incident to the police. If the owner is still found and there are no financial or psychological problems, a community service order or even a prison sentence may be imposed.
Spierings: “We have had a lot of reactions from people who thought it was sad. Several people want to have the dogs. But a tip from someone who knows who owned the dogs, for example from a neighbor, is not yet included. It is possible that the perpetrator also from outside Helmond.”
At the end of the week the dogs will go to the groomer because they were poorly cared for. “We have already removed the worst tangles.”
