The opening game in the final for the national championship was won by Aalsmeer. After a very exciting handball match in and against HV Volendam, the team won 27-26.
The opening phase was clear for the visitors in Sporthal de Opperdam. Aalsmeer took a three-point lead (2-5). Then Volendam took the initiative and took a 7-6 lead. At halftime, that margin was intact: 12-11.
In the second half, Volendam also took the lead for most of the time. From 25-23, however, the match turned. Aalsmeer scored four goals in a row and finished the match: 26-27.
Next Sunday is the second game in Aalsmeer. If a decision game is needed (best-of-3), Volendam will once again be the setting. That game is scheduled for Sunday, June 26.
