Aachener takes over the Galeria location in Leverkusen

As part of the ongoing restructuring process, the insolvent retailer Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof GmbH will also close its branch in downtown Leverkusen in the summer. On Wednesday, DIC Asset GmbH, which owns the property, was able to present a new tenant: TEH Textilhandel GmbH, which is currently expanding its Aachener department store chain, signed a ten-year lease for the 20,400 square meter retail space company with.

According to this, another Aachener store will be opened in the previous Galeria premises at Wiesdorfer Platz 82 in September. The retail chain had already secured several galeria spaces that were about to be closed and is aiming to take over further locations.

With the new lease, which seamlessly follows the contract terminated by Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof on June 30, “DIC has succeeded in securing the continued operation of the retail location in Leverkusen and the attractiveness of the city center as well as in preserving numerous jobs,” said the real estate company with.

Friedrich Göbel, Managing Director of TEH Textilhandel GmbH, appreciated the agreement: “With DIC we have a creative and reliable partner at our side who supports us in our expansion with suitable retail space in the best inner-city location,” he explained in a statement. “We look forward to the opening in September 2023 and to long-term cooperation with DIC and the former Galeria employees.”

Leverkusen’s Lord Mayor Uwe Richrath welcomed the solution: “The rental is positive for the city of Leverkusen in several respects,” he said in a statement. “Together with DIC and the fashion house Aachener, we are avoiding vacancies in downtown Leverkusen, helping to ensure that it remains lively and attractive for the people of Leverkusen in the long term, and securing some of the jobs.”
