A9 is open again after a serious accident: “It will take a while before everything continues again”

The A9 at the Raasdorp junction is free again. The highway was closed early this morning after a serious accident involving six cars. The accident caused huge traffic congestion. There were very long traffic jams on the alternative routes.

“It will take a while before all traffic continues as normal,” a spokesperson for the ANWB told NH Nieuws. “I am referring in particular to the roads around the A9.”

Traffic was advised to detour via Zaandam and the Amsterdam ring road (N203, N246, A8, A10). But it did not take long before these roads also silted up.

Chain collision

Something went wrong on the A9 just after half past five this morning. Six cars collided with each other. It is not yet clear how that could have happened. Five people were injured in the accident, two of whom were taken to hospital.

Police have investigated the accident and all cars have been recovered. The road was reopened around 10 a.m.
