Just before 10 p.m., a lane of the A58 motorway in the direction of Eindhoven was reopened for traffic. The road had been closed since Friday afternoon for repairs following a fatal accident.
As a result of the accident, a 68-year-old man from Belgium died when he was hit by a truck. The 57-year-old truck driver from Hungary has been arrested, the police report.
The driver of the car was killed after he came to a stop on the emergency lane and got out. He was hit when he was behind his car near the trailer. The driver of the truck escaped unhurt, as did the woman who was in the same vehicle as the victim.
Around midnight, Rijkswaterstaat expects to be completely finished with the last repair work.
